Nearly a Year of Face Yoga Exercise

After dabbling with Face Yoga way back in 2012, I have now been using the Face Yoga Method for 9 months, 6 days a week.   What a difference, a lot less sinus problems, jaw, although still occasionally clicking no longer tight.  My face feels and looks lifted and relaxed.

My mental attitude towards myself is also much better, I feel like me again.

I added Face Acupressure to this routine which also takes around 20 minutes and I normally do this in the middle of the night if I can't get back to sleep, (lots of points especially good for insomnia, releasing tension) therefore, even with lack of sleep no puffiness in the morning.

Face Yoga Scotland introduced me to the Gua Sha method, so I now have that in my daily facial routine.  My Gua Sha is Jade and I bought it on Amazon, love this tool, this also lifts, tones and brings lots of circulation to the face which promotes collagen and elastin growth.

Lots of little bits of massage and lifting can also be done throughout the day to bring a glow to the face.

Another very important thing to remember is to breath, not only when doing the exercises, but also throughout the day, deep breathes, from the belly to the thoracic part of the body.   Very relaxing, activing the parasympathic system which brings calm and focus.  One fabulous tool you can buy to help with this is Jill Miller`s Coregeous Ball which is placed in different areas of the body to help focus on breathing, releasing tension and relaxing the body.  I am a great believer in finding tools that can be used to facilitate healing throughout the body, I take so many with me when going away it`s a wonder I can fit clothes in my case.   Other balls I use, I have 3 sets, are The Miracle Ball Method, they go everywhere with me.

It`s good to remember there are 57 facial muscles, so `Take your Face to the Gym`

I can arrange workshops, house parties, private sessions, or group sessions.

Acupressure Points for Facial Rejuvenation

All these acupressure points are great for releasing blocked energy in the face, resulting in brighter firmer skin.   The beauty of this programme is, that once you are familiar with all the points they can be done in the morning while in bed, during the day, in the evening before sleep (trust me this will make you sleep so much better) and I find this wonderful on those nights when I am wide awake in the middle of the night.    The facial points shown also have lots of other uses, they can be used for migraines, TMJ, Sinus Problems, Headaches, Insomnia, Clear thinking, Relaxation, Balancing the Endocrine System, earache.

There are other points I can show you to help with neck, shoulder and back tension.   A fabulous point used by the Chinese for centuries for relief of pain anywhere in the body.   Points to help with upset stomach and indigestion, toothache, you will never tire of using these points.

When using Acupressure points there are various ways of holding the point, and there are 3 stages to holding the point, go in gently, medium pressure and if comfortable deeper pressure.  Always come out of the point the same way.

I have been using these points for the last 3 years and they are now a constant in my life.  I am looking forward to sharing all this information, along with Face Yoga in my upcoming Workshops which will begin in September.

When using acupressure, the middle finger has the most energy as the Pericardium Meridian and Extraordinary Vessel flows through it.

FACE YOGA PASSION

Face Yoga is my new passion, I am very excited that I will be sharing all these methods in Workshops, Classes, House Parties etc.  This is a very simple method to rejuvenate the face, using the fingers as resistance to tone and lift the muscles.  Most of the points used to exericse the face muscles are also acupressure points.

The face needs exercise as well as the body.  There are 57 facial muscles, these are much smaller muscles than the body so the results can be seen faster.

I dabbled with Face Yoga in 2012 and then on and off over the following years.   Last year after moving house for the third time in 5 years, my face was tight, and painful (TMJ and Sinus problems  all on the same side) due to the about of stress that had built up there, a progression from the shouldeer and neck problems.   While all this was going on I decided to start doing Face Yoga again, I also printed off the material from my Acupressure course and put all this to work.   A year later I hardly ever feel the stress and tension in my face, my face looks more toned and relaxed.

Stress plays a major part in making our faces look older than they actually are, there are now scientific results that confirm that Face Yoga and Acupressure can help alleviate stress and tension from the face while toning, firming and releasing toxins.

Once you learn all the techniques this programme can be completed in 20 minutes, in fact if you are short on time, you can split up the upper and lower half of the face into 10 minute sections, but should always finish with the relaxation and breathing to get the full benefits.  There is also a great 5 minute quick session you can use.

I will also be teaching clients how to use the Facial Acupressure points which also tone the face, but have other added benefits of freeing up energy, helping with; insomnia, tooth ache, TMJ, Headaches, Sinus Problems, Migraines, Balancing the Body and Mind, and my personal favourite, dry eyes.  Facial Acupressure is something I use usually at night, in the middle of the night if I am having trouble sleeping and sometimes in the morning.

All participants in the Sessions will receive a map of the face showing the muscles and also a printout showing the Acupressure points.

Posters with all the Face Yoga exercises can be purchased through me as well as Danielle Collins DVD.

It is never too late to start taking care of your face.

FACE YOGA

FACE YOGA

WHAT CAUSES THE FACE TO AGE?

.           weakening of the face muscles
.           poor lymph flow
.           break down of connective tissue
.           stress
.           losing collagen and elastin
.           poor circulation
.           excess toxins
.           too much sun
.           harsh winds and cold
.           certain products
.           poor nutrition
.           negativity
.           pollution
.           lack of sleep
.           lack of exercise
.           cigarette, alcohol and drugs

Stress and the Face

Many things can causes stress, some examples are:

Pressure to perform at work
Guilt, perfectionism, worry
Money worries
Arguments
Family conflicts
Divorce
Bereavement
Unemployment
Moving house

The effects of stress on the face are numerous:

The production of collagen and elastin leading to a sallow, aged appearance;
Dehydration which makes the skin look unhealthy and tired.
Stress also means we frown, grimace, and squint for long periods of time which leads to lines and wrinkles.

The Face Yoga Method, consists of Face Yoga, Face Acupressure, Face Massage and Relaxation.   While you will notice a difference after the first couple of sessions, your face may feel like it has had a good workout, you will feel less tension and have a rosy glow.  It is over a longer period of time when you will notice and uplifting of the face and neck.

There are 57 muscles in the face and neck that need to be exercised. As the muscles become stronger they are lifted and firmed and the skin attached to the muscles is also lifted and tautened therefore reducing the lines and wrinkles.  As these muscles are smaller than the ones in the body, it takes a lot less time for them to increase in strength and tone.

Face Massage

The massage techniques used help increased circulation, lymph flow and remove toxins, making the skin look healthier and more youthful.

Acupressure is…

An ancient hands-on health care system of muscular tension release.

Based on the same points as acupuncture, using the power of the human hand instead of needles.<

Improves the functioning of the entire body, increases circulation and builds resistance.

Unblocks tensions, caused by stress, injuries, poor diet, incorrect posture, and lack of exercise.

Promotes emotional healing and reawakens the joy of living.

Acupressure is wonderful for helping to reduce lines and wrinkles by unblocking the tension and stress around the acupressure points so that the energy can flow more freely.  The hands on practice of acupressure releases muscular tension which tends to concentrate around these points and inhibit circulation.   The Chinese have used acupressure to enhance physical fitness and beauty for thousands of years.   This 5,000 year old system has been found effective for toning muscles, improving the condition and luster of kin, relieving acne, sinus problems, jaw tension, and headaches.   We will be doing this with simple finger pressure.

The Face Yoga Method is safe to use 6 days a week, taking one day off to rest.

The sessions will also include deep breathing which is also a huge part of releasing stress and tension.

FACE YOGA STUDY

Facial exercises help middle-aged women appear more youthful

20 weeks of facial exercises yielded firmer skin, fuller upper and lower cheeks
CHICAGO - A 30-minute daily or alternate-day facial exercise program sustained over 20 weeks improved the facial appearance of middle-aged women, resulting in a younger appearance with fuller upper and lower cheeks, reports a new Northwestern Medicine study. This is the first scientific study to test the premise of facial exercise improving appearance.
“Now there is some evidence that facial exercises may improve facial appearance and reduce some visible signs of aging,” said lead author Dr. Murad Alam, vice chair and professor of dermatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a Northwestern Medicine dermatologist. “The exercises enlarge and strengthen the facial muscles, so the face becomes firmer and more toned and shaped like a younger face.
“Assuming the findings are confirmed in a larger study, individuals now have a low-cost, non-toxic way for looking younger or to augment other cosmetic or anti-aging treatments they may be seeking,” Alam said.
The study was published Jan. 3 in the journal JAMA Dermatology.
As the face ages, skin loses elasticity and fat pads between the muscle and skin become thinner. The fat pads, which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, give the face much of its shape. As skin becomes saggy, the thinning fat pads atrophy and slide, causing the face to “fall down.”
“But if muscle underneath becomes bigger, the skin has more stuffing underneath it and the firmer muscle appears to make the shape of the face more full,” said senior study author Emily Poon, an assistant research professor in dermatology at Feinberg. “Muscle growth is increasing the facial volume and counteracting the effects of age-related fat thinning and skin loosening.”
How the study worked
Study participants, middle-aged women 40 to 65 years old, underwent two sets of face-to-face 90-minute training sessions from a facial exercise instructor. At home, they continued to do these exercises for a total of 20 weeks. For the first eight weeks, they did the exercises daily for 30 minutes. From nine to 20 weeks, they did the same exercises every other day for 30 minutes a session.
