“I was a real mess.”
That’s how “Queen of Pilates” Lynne Robinson describes herself when she was living in Australia with her two daughters and teaching English as a second language 15 years ago. Then 38, she suffered from sciatica, had hypermobile joints and a nonexistent core. But imperfection became her good fortune: She showed up for a yoga class at the wrong time and met Penny Latey, director of Modern Pilates on Sydney’s North Shore. Latey urged the out-of shape student to take her Pilates class. Robinson took on the challenge.
